Youth Specialized Services Worker (18-29yrs)
Much like the drawing of the caricature, Tima is eclectic in her approaches to working in community initiatives. Tima’s background in psychology spans over 15 years. She is trained in psycho-educational approaches and in crisis intervention. In her years as a psycho-educator, outreach coordinator, mentor and life coach, she has designed workshops and is a prominent motivational speaker. She uses a blend of approaches adapted from psychotherapist Carl Rogers (1902-1987). The key concepts include respect, empathy and authenticity using a variety of modalities, which incorporate humanistic practices and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Tima invests in a Strengths-Based application that is guided by the individual needs of the client. She champions for a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. An interest in community involvement has always been at the core of her work with young adults. The focus is on exploring identity, personal growth, wellness, goals, purpose, and meaning in one’s life.
