Who are we looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit two (2) community garden leaders to run workshops in
regular gardening sessions in our community gardens. They will ensure that the gardens run smoothly
and will help community gardeners grow and harvest food together, while sharing
knowledge and building a community. Facilitators will act as the link between
gardeners and our comprehensive urban agriculture program, as well as our multi-faceted
facets Depot. These people will work with the urban agriculture team and will be supported by the

The Depot aims to create a stakeholder-based organizational culture, where anti-oppression and

Main responsibilities:
● Organize group gardening sessions :
○ Facilitate the social dynamics of gardening sessions. This includes ensuring safety
mental and emotional well-being of garden members, to support the processes
and to encourage the exchange of knowledge and social interaction between
participants ;
○ Understand and be prepared to develop knowledge of the technical aspects of
horticulture and vegetable production, and to ensure the ecological production of

Profile required:
● Experience in group animation and facilitation (including conflict resolution, balancing
between the different needs of participants); ;
● Experience in ecological fruit and vegetable production and an interest in learning new skills.

in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce ;
● Office hours can be flexible, and gardening sessions and other events are
planned in advance for the day, evening and weekend.

Collective Gardens Facilitator

Your contribution
We are currently looking to hire two Collective Garden Facilitators to run regular garden sessions in our
collective gardens. They will ensure the smooth functioning of the collective gardens and support collective
gardeners to grow and harvest food together, while sharing knowledge and building community. The facilitators
will link collective gardeners to our overall Urban agriculture program and our multifaceted Depot programming.
They will work with the urban agriculture team, and be supported by the Urban Agriculture Manager as well as by
the Depot's multidisciplinary team.

Founded in 1986, The Depot Community Food Centre is a community-based non-profit organization that works
collaboratively with its community to address the root causes of hunger and poverty in NDG and the surrounding
areas in a manner that ensures dignity, engagement and the development of human potential. We offer over 20
food-based programs to support the food security and healthy eating habits of youth, families and individuals. Our

○ Understand and be willing to develop your knowledge about the technical aspects of ecological
horticulture and vegetable production, and ensure the ecological production of produce in the
gardens;
○ Share knowledge and promote our values of urban agriculture and ecological gardening methods,
food security and food sovereignty, healthy living habits, and environmental stewardship;
○ Create and reinforce links between gardeners of diverse backgrounds and abilities, the Depot
Community Food Centre, and the community;
● Assist in the logistical and planning aspects of gardens;
● Maintain communication with community partners, the team and the supervisor as needed;
● Participate in team meetings, workshops, and other organizational events;
● Collect information related to the collective garden program, including keeping garden journals and
harvest logs, receiving comments and testimonials from members, and writing end-of-season reports.
What we are looking for:
● Experience in animation and group facilitation (including conflict resolution, balancing diverse needs of
participants);
● Experience in ecological fruit and vegetable production and interest in learning new techniques;
● Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills in spoken English and French;
● Is comfortable adapting to and facilitating multi-cultural and intergenerational groups;
● Understanding or keen interest in working with an anti-oppression anti-racism lens and incorporating
non-violent communication approaches in their work;
● Be available for the entire duration of the contract (April-November).

● Has a cellphone to be used during working hours;
● Has a bicycle and is comfortable riding in the city.
Working Conditions
● Salary of $20/hr, 24h/week
● The employee receives paid vacation (4%), sick days and personal days, during the contract;
● Workplace: The Depot Community Food Centre and various garden and community organization
locations in Notre-Dame-de-Grace;
● Office hours can be flexible, and garden sessions and other events are scheduled in advance for daytimes,
evenings, and weekends.
