We work with young people who are at risk of dropping out of school or who have dropped out within the last six months to offer them support in their efforts to stay in school. To do this, we offer personalized homework assistance and individual counselling as well as group workshops. For more than 7 years we have been involved in the school environment with the W.O.R.D. project, providing young people with writing and poetry workshops. This project is an alternative way to strengthen young people’s ties with their school environment.
WORD operates in-class and extracurricular hip-hop based literacy programs for high-school aged students who seek additional learning opportunities in Montreal’s public schools.
We use youth culture/art as the primary way to connect with young people. For W.O.R.D, this most often means hip hop.
We use popular culture and subculture to start critical/constructive conversations about social issues and the experiences of young people
We support youth in creating their own music, to express themselves, their reality, and have a positive impact on their communities
We want a more just world where young people’s innate skill sets and strengths are valued in ways that allow them to tackle real world problems.

We support young people aged 15 to 19 who reside in NDG, Hampstead, Côte Saint-Luc and Montreal West, either individually or inside of educational institutions.
