Description du poste/Job Description

Project and job objectives:
The Community Service Worker for Digital and Media Literacy supports Atwater Library’s outreach and delivery of digital literacy services in the communities we serve. The Atwater Library is directly involved in promoting the development of the official language minority group in Montreal through promoting English-language libraries and community services that are not readily available through other institutions.
The Connect Project is one facet of the services we offer to our community. We design and deliver free digital literacy workshops to adult beginner learning groups. This position will regularly interface with the public in responding to technology needs in-person, online, or in a hybrid environment. The candidate will work with patrons to enhance their digital skills and abilities to ensure they are able to access critical online information and services to work towards digital independence.

This position is supervised by the Connect Project Coordinator and requires on site hours and some travel in the community. The hours for this position are 35 hours per week. Some scheduling flexibility is available and this position will require some virtual responsibilities. The successful candidate should be willing to complete a criminal background check.

Exigences demandées/Requirements

Preferred skills:
Proficient computer and internet skills, including but not limited to Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Apple, Android and Windows systems.
Fluency in English (knowledge of French is an asset).
Excellent interpersonal skills, detailed-oriented
Willing to teach basic computer and internet skills.
Commitment to working with adults of diverse economic, linguistic, and/or cultural backgrounds.

Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada;

Compétences demandées/Required skills

The main objectives of the Community Service Worker could include*:

assist the Connect Project Coordinator in daily and special projects;
assist with building, publishing, maintaining, and archiving curriculum
implement the established digital literacy curriculum;
facilitate hands-on learning as a digital literacy facilitator, online or in-person, as requested - to guide or help community members to use various electronic devices, access and navigate digital resources, mobile apps, and other tools.
help develop promotional materials to promote the learning opportunities;
