Les Maisons Transitionnelles O3 On Our Own (O3) is a non-profit community organization in NDG that offers support services and affordable housing to young parents (16 to 30 years old) and their children (0 to 5 years old). Our small, dynamic team works closely together to create high quality, tailored programming to help our families achieve their goals and move from surviving to thriving.

Our programming offer has grown significantly over the past few years and we are looking to hire a Director of Development and Communications to ensure our continued sustainability and development. The Director of Development will focus on direct outreach to individual donors and developing relationships with Foundations and other major funders. They will also be responsible for communications (ex. sending quarterly newsletters and special mailouts, direct communications with funders and Foundations) and managing social media accounts. They may also assist the Executive Director in writing large grant applications for public or private funding, however grant writing is not the main focus of this position.

Exigences demandées/Requirements

Required Experience:
- 2+ years experience working in fundraising, donor management or outreach, or a related field and demonstrated ability to raise funds
- Passionate about our mission and values
- DEC or Bachelor’s degree
- Communications experience or training
- Strong relationship building skills and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Working proficiency in French
- Knowledge of communications management tools (CRMs, mailchimp, etc.)
- Basic graphic design skills (we use Canva)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of donor management system (we use CanadaHelps)

Assets:
- Knowledge of the Montreal funding landscape and major Foundations
- Experience in the English community/non-profit sector
- Knowledge or experience grant writing
- Experience working in a self-directed work environment


Compétences demandées/Required skills

Responsibilities of the Position include:
- Work in collaboration with the Director to develop a fundraising and outreach strategy, including specific fundraising goals and timelines
- Tracks progress on fundraising goals and reports progress to Director
- Continue to develop and strengthen connections with existing individual donors and Foundations
- Research and develop relationships with potential funders
- Lead donor outreach campaigns and efforts to recruit new individual donors
- Represent the organisation at fundraising and other events and in meetings with established and potential funders
- Manage CRM donor database (CanadaHelps DMS)
- Write and send quarterly newsletters to donors
- Write and send special donor communications (individualized donor thank you letters for major gifts, holiday card for all donors, etc.)
- Meet and collaborate with Board Fundraising Committee
- Potentially, manage social media accounts, including creating content
- Potentially, assist with planning or running fundraising events (usually our fundraising event is organized and run by an external partner)
- Assist in writing the Annual Report

Position details:
Type: Part-time (20 hours a week), 1 year contract, renewable
Start date: as soon as possible, start date negotiable
Compensation: $ 30-35/hour, depending on experience
Location and schedule: Hybrid on-site/remote (flexible days)
Semi-flexible schedule: mostly within regular business hours but flexibility to start early or late; occasional evening work may be required to attend events with notice
Benefits: three weeks vacation (6%), 3 personal days and 5 sick days
