Dictation of the municipalities of the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie Foundation

Since 1991, the Dictation P.G.L. is aimed at young people in primary and secondary schools, while for some years now the Dictée P.G.L. de la Francophonie is aimed at companies and the general public.

This year, the Foundation is adding a third dictation to its list: the Municipal P.G.L. dictation for adult immigrants living in Montreal who wish to improve their French language skills. As there are three levels of language proficiency in this friendly competition (beginner, intermediate, advanced), the dictation is also aimed at immigrants, whether long-standing or more recent arrivals, whose mother tongue is French or who are in the process of becoming French speakers.

To sum up, the activity can be broken down into three main stages

  1. From now until mid-June: register and learn about the wide range of services offered by the City of Montreal by attending free interactive workshops: door prizes will be drawn.
  2. June: arrondissements dictation (three levels of mastery): Participants from each district will get together to put the concepts covered in the various workshops to good use in a friendly, practical dictation. Date and venue to be announced.
  3. In September: the Mayor's P.G.L. dictation: At this grand finale, all the participants will once again come together for the ultimate dictation, an event that promises to be memorable, celebrating the cultural mosaic that is the strength of Montreal. Date and location to be announced.
