Quebec needs new talent to fill high-demand trades in the construction sector. Starting in January 2024, four new short-term training courses will be offered across Quebec:
- Carpentry and joinery
- Driving construction machinery
- Tinsmithing
- Refrigeration
Short-term study programs
Our short courses are designed to give you the skills you need to take part in a wide range of projects, such as construction.
- infrastructure;
- hospitals;
- schools;
- housing.
Short-term training courses range from 4 to 6 months and lead to an Attestation of Vocational Studies (AVS). The AEP is a short-term training program leading to a recognized qualification, offered by a school service center, an English-language school board or a special-status board.

Carpentry and joinery
Build, install and repair frameworks made of various materials (wood, steel, etc.).
Driving construction machinery
Operate construction equipment used to build and maintain various structures (roads, tunnels, buildings, etc.).

Tinsmithing
Admission requirements
These courses are offered to people who have interrupted their studies for at least 12 months, with the exception of those who are attending or have attended general adult education courses during this period.

Financial support
Financial support for short-term training leading to an Attestation of Vocational Studies (AVS)
Financial support of 750 $ per week of training, paid every two weeks, will be granted to students enrolled in short courses.

Financial support for certain vocational diplomas (DEP)
Individuals who enroll in a program leading to one of the four DVSs for the five priority trades between October 30 and December 15, 2023, or who begin training during this same period, may be eligible for a bursary ranging from 9,000 $ to 15,000 $. This bursary is awarded upon graduation.
Programs of study include Carpentry and Joinery, Construction Equipment Operation, Tinsmithing and Refrigeration.
To be eligible, a person must
- have completed their registration between October 30 and December 15, 2023, or have begun their training during this period;
- have interrupted their studies for at least twelve months;OR
- attend or have attended adult general education (AGE) during this period.
Registration
The registration period will run from October 30, 2023 to December 15, 2023.
AEP training will start in January 2024.
